My Family Vacation To Florida's Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and Sarasota...
If you and your family love beach vacations, you're going to want to visit Anna Maria Island after reading about my recent family vacation experience to Anna Maria Island and Sarasota, on the west coast of Florida... right on the Gulf of Mexico ;-)
We all like to travel, in fact I live for it. The whole family is always looking forward to that next vacation experience.
We've just returned from a short trip to the beach. Beaches that is, on Anna Maria Island. A good friend of the family loaned us their Anna Maria Island vacation rental... a condo on the beach.
No one in our family is sun shy, so we spent at least part of every day enjoying the beach. We really, really relaxed, and did lots of fun family things. We napped, caught up on reading and even played board games right on the beach. Everything we did do, we did as a family, and that was extra special for my wife Sarah.
It would seem that I’m really good at Scrabble... Love that game! Even beat my son Jason. Guess I am smarter than a 6 yr old... lol.
Other things we did while visiting Anna Maria Island.
We took a trip to the Alpine Steakhouse in Sarasota. It home to the Turducken. Weird, but wonderful. You might be able to tell that it has turkey, duck and chicken in it. Still can’t believe I chickened out and never even tried it. Shame on me! The food was very good and the place is certainly unique. I definitely recommend checking it out, but for goodness sake, have the Turducken!
Another trip up Sarasota way to St. Armand’s Circle. It’s located on Lido Key. Had lunch at the Crab & Fin where I had a few of my favorite foods, the Martha’s Vineyard Salad, Fresh oysters and Gazpacho. After that lunch, we were pretty full, but walked along the circle and went into one of our favorite stores, Garden Argosy. if you get a chance, go there. You'll love it. It has so many neat things. Jewelry, wall plates, bath items, towels, dishes, just anything cool that you can possibly imagine.
You know, the best part of any vacation is spending quality time with the family. I really like that. Guess its the small things in life that really matter the most. Especially these days, with everything that is going on in the world. Brrrrrrr.... just got a chill up my spine.
Knowing the area as well as I do, and the fact that the whole Sarasota area is such a popular Florida wedding location destination, here are some of my favorite places for a wedding in the Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and Sarasota areas.
The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota. Beautiful is an understatement, perfect for a beach wedding, as its located right by Sarasota Bay and is a beach side location to boot.
Lido Beach Resort. This was formerly a lovely little Radisson and now it’s an impressive beach side resort. Wow!
Longboat Key Club. A gorgeous club located in one of the prettiest areas on the west coast of Florida.
The Beach House. This is located right on Anna Maria Island and they have the best food and weddings are their specialty.
