According to a recent ABC news report, the Anna Maria Island business community is promoting the Anna Maria Island area as the destination wedding capital of Florida.
Anna Maria Island Wedding Festival
This past February, the wedding merchants and local Anna Maria Island business community held the first ever Anna Maria Island Wedding Festival.
More than 350 "soon to be married" couples came to the area to see what Anna Maria Island had to offer. What they found was that both the Island of Anna Maria as well as the local wedding merchants and business community had plenty to offer anyone planning a destination wedding... especially a destination wedding on the beach and in the sun!

"I cannot imagine having a wedding day where I am not bare foot in the sand", says one of those 350 soon to be brides that attended this years Anna Maria Island Wedding Festival. Even though she is not getting married until April of next year, most of the wedding planning is already done.
"Coming out to the wedding festival, seeing the pamphlets they handed out to us, and actually going to the places... they were within walking distance. That just made the entire wedding planning process so much better for me. It took a lot of the stress off."
According to one local Anna Maria Island wedding merchant, "There is strength in numbers. When you all work together you really can multiply the effect you can have, and we are all seeing the results of that".
Quoting other Anna Maria Island business owners, "Working with other merchants on the island is good for business and her pride, "What we are trying to do is say, come on down to Anna Maria Island, and when you come here we are going to take care of you."
"The numbers on Anna Maria Island are up, and in our two resorts they are way up."
