Standard Wedding Sand Ceremony as Performed on the Beaches of Anna Maria Island...
The Wedding Sand Ceremony is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to celebrate the joining of two lives.
The Wedding Sand Ceremony can be used to replace the unity candle portion of the wedding ceremony and provides the couple with a keepsake that will last a lifetime.
Wedding Vows
Ring Exchange, Unity Sand Ceremony and Rose Ceremony
Every wedding couple is unique and special in their own way, and there are as many different wedding ceremonies as there are couples to marry.
Every minister or wedding officiant, together with the wishes of the engaged couple, create a very special wedding ceremony that is unique to their own personal beliefs and is representative of their spiritual understanding of what marriage is and what spending their lives united forever in eternity means to them.
These days, it is common for a couple to write their own vows for their wedding ceremony. You can find good example passages online from ancient Hawaiian and/or Native American weddings that can serve as a guide when writing for the portion of your wedding that relates to the Unity Sand Ceremony... In fact there are examples you can use right here on this blog.
Whatever your dream wedding entails, consider incorporating the Unity Sand Ceremony into the celebration. You'll be sure to create memories that your guests will talk about for a very long time to come... and you will get to take home with you, a keepsake that will serve as a reminder of your joyous day.
Anna Maria Island Beach Wedding and Unity Sand Ceremony
What better way for a bride and groom to celebrate that uniqueness than to come together in marriage, celebrating the magic of this special occasion with an Anna Maria Island Beach Wedding and their very own UNITY SAND CEREMONY.
There are a number of different ways to perform the Unity Sand Ceremony. Traditionally, two vessels of sand are poured together either into a third keepsake vessel, or into the wind to represent the coming together of your lives.
Typical Anna Maria Island Beach Wedding Ceremony
Here is an example of a typical Wedding Sand Ceremony complete with wedding vows and ring exchange, unity sand ceremony and rose ceremony, that can be performed on the sands of Anna Maria Island, right off the coast of Florida in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico!
"We are gathered here today to celebrate one of life's greatest moments, to give recognition to the worth and beauty of love, and to add our best wishes to the words which shall unite <Bride> and <Groom> in marriage."
More words from the Minister of Wedding Officiant leading into the Wedding Vows and Ring Exchange.
"(I,____________, take you___________ , etc.)
_______________ and ___________ as the two of you come into this marriage uniting you as husband and wife, and as you this day affirm your faith and love for one another, I would ask that you always remember to cherish each other as special and unique individuals, that you respect the thoughts, ideas and suggestions of one another. Be able to forgive, do not hold grudges, and live each day that you may share it together - as from this day forward you shall be each other's home, comfort and refuge, your marriage strengthened by your love and respect for each other."
There can be an Optional Scripture Reading, and/or Optional Prayer.
Unification Sand Ceremony
Then, after the minister or wedding officiant reads the statement below, pour the two containers of sand into the third container simultaneously.
"<Bride> and <Groom>, today you join your separate lives together. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you’ll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."
Note: If there are children as part of the new family being formed, the sand unity ceremony can involve them also. Some families choose a different color for each member. of the family.
Perform your Unity Sand Ceremony to Music You Both Love
The pouring of the sand is a good time for a song. The ceremony generally takes only a few minutes and for some can feel a bit awkward if done it total silence. Pick a song both you and your fiance love, a song that preferably has some meaning to you as a couple... perhaps a favorite that was playing when you met, or on your first date or kiss!
ROSE CEREMONY : The Rose Ceremony can be performed immediately after the Unity Sand Ceremony... if you wish.
"<Bride> and <Groom>, in so much as the two of you have agreed to live together in Holy Matrimony, have promised your love for each other by these vows, the joining of your hands and the giving of these rings, I now declare you to be Husband and Wife."
"Whom God hath joined together, let no one separate. You may kiss your wife." (Some couples add the benediction: "May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up his countenance unto to you, and give you peace.")
"Congratulations, you may kiss your bride.
It is my privilege to present to you Mr. & Mrs. ___________________."
The above is printed here only as a guide. The idea is to bring to your wedding day, vows and ceremonial ritual that speaks the lucky couples beliefs and values, and expresses what this wonderfully joyous occasion means to them as a couple.
